Who we are

Information we use
Our servers process IP addresses, request timestamps and standard HTTP security logs to deliver, secure and rate-limit the service. A private group contains its chosen name, duration, hashed admin PIN, participant nicknames, emoji avatars, hashed participant PINs, answers, scores and timestamps. We also retain moderation records when a proposed group name or nickname is blocked, including the submitted text, reason, time and IP address. Privacy choices and temporary group credentials are stored on your device. The private operator dashboard uses a secure, HTTP-only session cookie after authorised sign-in.
Private groups & PIN safety
Groups can be discovered by their code or chosen name in search. Joining a group requires its code or link and a participant PIN; viewing results requires the admin PIN or a valid participant credential. Nicknames and group names are screened by an automated safety filter to prevent offensive or harmful words. Avatars are limited to a fixed set of pre-approved emoji. The group creator chooses how long the group stays active (from 1 day up to 365 days). Group data is automatically and permanently deleted once that period ends.
Legal basis for processing
We process group and gameplay information because it is necessary to provide the service a visitor requests. Security logging, rate-limiting, service measurement and automated content moderation are based on our legitimate interests in operating a safe, reliable service and preventing misuse. We balance those interests against visitors' rights and minimise the information used. Advertising and analytics technologies are disabled by default.
Children and age-appropriate design
TikTakka is designed for high privacy by default: no public profiles, public chat, behavioural tracking or geolocation features. We do not collect names, email addresses, or dates of birth from quiz players.
Retention
The group creator chooses a lifetime from 1 to 365 days. The group, participants, answers and scores are permanently deleted after that period. Routine security logs and moderation records are retained for no longer than 12 months unless they are needed to investigate an incident, handle a complaint or meet a legal obligation. Device storage remains until it expires, is replaced or is cleared through your browser.
Sharing and international transfers
We do not sell personal information or share it with advertising networks. Information is available only to service providers needed to host, secure and maintain TikTakka, acting under our instructions. Before appointing a provider that processes information outside the UK, we assess the transfer mechanism and safeguards required by UK data-protection law. Contact us for current provider details.
Your statutory rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. The right to object applies particularly to our security and moderation processing, although compelling safety or legal reasons may allow us to continue. Required information and automated moderation
A group name, duration and admin PIN are required to create a group; a nickname and participant PIN are required to join. Without them, those features cannot work. Our automated word filter may reject proposed names or nicknames that appear unsafe or inappropriate. It does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
